Restoring forests and managing waste for a cleaner Tanzania
Program Overview
Tanzania's forests, soils and waterways are under growing pressure from deforestation, unmanaged waste and unsustainable land use. EHCA's environmental conservation program tackles these threats directly, with the goal of increasing forest cover, combating deforestation and improving waste management practices in the communities where we work. We do not plant trees for communities; we plant trees with them. Every project is designed around local ownership, so the forests we restore and the waste systems we build continue to thrive long after the project ends. Our work in schools, such as training students on proper waste management and providing waste collection bins, plants the habits of environmental stewardship early.
On The Ground
Collaborating with local communities to plant and nurture trees and restore degraded forest areas, directly combating deforestation while creating greener, healthier surroundings.
Implementing community-based waste reduction and recycling programs, including school waste management training and the provision of waste collection facilities, to keep neighborhoods clean and reduce pollution.
